As an aside Tony, if the centres and barrels as you call them are powder coated, does this present any need to re torque the bolts due to the powder coating squishing out/settling or whatever it's called when the two halves are compressed? I've a set of style 41 I think they are (split rim staggered) I want to refurb as an option for mine.
I asked the question today Adrian and the owner, Chris, said they put a thinner coating on the mating surfaces to seal out the water and recommend re-torqueing the bolts after a "while". So that's what I will do.

Tony.

I spent hours researching this when I did mine pal, 25ftlb was the general consensus, I used that and mine are fine, I have to say that I haven't redone them. I also didn't use locktight

The usual imperial unit for torque for threads under 10mm (3/8") dia is inch pounds and not foot pounds. I noticed the values quoted in @mrscalex attachment just say "pounds".

From the horses mouth guys, Michael Cox at BBS Georgia.,

Hi Anthony,

Torque them to 22 ft. lbs. and use a drop of blue Loctite. Tighten in a star pattern for the first 10 bolts or so to be sure

the center is seated in the rim section correctly. Use an 8mm triple square bit.

Going to be satisfying assembling after the refurb.
Hope so mate, they may do them for me if they have time spare. Will be easier to transport them in one piece in all honesty. Going to see if I can borrow some wheel boxes from work.

And finally,....................

WOW Michael, thank you. That was a fantastic response and greatly appreciated. BBS have made some gorgeous wheels over the years, my Mazda Eunos (Miata) had some too. Please keep up the great work! I'm a member on some BMW Z roadster forums and I will mention this on those forums for sure.

You’re very welcome!

Regards,

Michael Cox

Graham came and collected my 108s tonight after work and he's taking them over to CJ Powder Coatings at Grimsby for me tomorrow morning while I'm at work. I will give them a call next weekend to see how things are progressing, I said I'm in no hurry.
