Same applies for me. Neutral, handbrake check, clutch, start.I should probably add that this is short term parking rather than long term storage e.g. popping to the shops or out on a zed run (those were the days)

There's quite a few cars around these days where you have to push the clutch down for the starter to work. I guess they realise there're some seriously stupid people out there.
Anyone else remember the days of old British bikes where you'd have to put it in gear, hold the clutch in, and kick it over to free the clutch after it had been sitting overnight? And if you didn't, you'd find out why when you tried to put it in gear with the engine running. "crunch" isn't really the right word, but it'll do.

My option's not on there. Left in neutral and checked again before I start it without pressing the clutch

Ha! My badThat's the "Parked out of gear, started with the clutch engaged" option...

Who needs a handbrake when there's another car parked right behind you to stop you rolling backwards down the hillWhen parking at home in the car port, handbrake off and in neutral. Dip the clutch when starting. When out on a run handbrake on and in gear as the handbrake is not to be trusted (eh @Bozzy), dip the clutch to start.
The daily is an auto and you have to press the foot brake before it will do its system check before starting.

.It was a good job you were there SteveWho needs a handbrake when there's another car parked right behind you to stop you rolling backwards down the hill.

My wife gets out and pushes while I pop the clutch..................FrankieNo, this is not an instructional thread but I am asking the zroadster.org massive to help me understand the way YOU do things.
I have always put the car into gear when parked up (in case the handbrake fails) and I have always dipped the clutch to start the car to take strain off the starter motor (and to prevent the car from lurching of course!)
Some others don't do either - car is not left in gear and the car is started with the clutch engaged.
I'm not saying either approach is right (although I do have an opinion!), but what does the Zorg massive do?
