How times have changed

Nobody wanted them in the sixties. Strange how times have changed.

It's taken us nearly 50yrs to get where we are with our recycling compared to how we've advanced in IT taking half that time, bit of a poor show really, and I believe we're still sending millions of tons of waste via sea to India so we don't have to recycle it, apparently it's cheaper to send it to India and pay them to find a place to dump it. Just think some of our rubbish is probably being sorted through by the poorer children in that country every day. Shame on the British government for turning a blind eye. So you see we're not there YET not by a mile.

Its hard to believe how slow it was to break up a car back in the day

Government of the day didn't want to invest and didn't want to lean on local councils, plus all efforts we steered towards getting North Sea oil out, they couldn't see past that at the time. If it wasn't for the scrapp yards and the collectors inc travellers we would've had a digger problem. Still can't believe how much land fill has been allowed in this small country, think it's gonna come back and bite our descendents on the arse at some point when they reclaim it for building.( Barrats are gonna have to start building on stilts )=))=))=))

When I was working for Dowell Schlumberger in the 80's I was told that barrels of chemicals we had that were no longer of use were getting shipped to North Africa and buried in pits in a desert....

Some even get dumped at sea, we're killing the oceans slowly buy surely. How many barges of crap get towed out to sea from all the worlds coastal cities?

Tony.

Nothing worse Tony than meeting someone's brown log whilst swimming on yer hols in one of them palm sun soaked islands, nuff to put you off swimming for life. NO ?????=))

Cleethorpes near Grimsby used to renowned for sewerage in the sea years ago when we were young, don't know about now though.

Remember siting on a wall above Valletta harbour in Malta eating a sandwich, I heard the bog in the building behind me flush and the stuff came out under my feet.....
