How Many?

Back in the late 70's I bought a Mitsubishi Radio/Cassette player for my Avenger. It was very high tech. It had ANSS (automatic sound suppression) which cut out tape "hiss" but the best thing was APSS (automatic programme search system) which, if you pressed the FF/RW button it found the beginning or end of tracks. Very good for the time.

ps. Took me several weeks to pay it off at so much a week. That was back when your wages came in a small brown packet.:)

I am saving up for this state of the art car stereo =))=)) l know it seems a lot but I am worth it.

Are they more expensive to buy than standard CD's?

Yes , even more so now as they tend to be classic albums that have also been given a new remastering from the original analogue tapes , I paid £25 each for the Dire Straits direct from the company pressing them (USA) , they are about £49 each here but they specials .

DVD-Audio disc put paid to SACD because people were buying DVD players but they themselves didn't last long , Blu-Ray Audio discs were looking like the next big thing but High Resolution files (downloadable) seem to have beaten the discs .
So yes SACD came too soon but have survived in the audiophile world along side Files , DVD-A and BluRay-A are rarely available new .

I have a suitcase of CDs I need to rip to external HD so I can throw out, but my laptop doesn’t have a CD/DVD drive that would allow me to do that :banghead:

You can buy stand alone cd/dvd players for little outlay.

I tried music magpie and was offered a pittance for my CDs too. They went off to charity shop instead.

I have now bought into a combination of old vinyl (never threw them out) and Spotify. I can download to my phone to play offline if I worry about rinsing my data.

DVDs we have kept the ones we liked. But (sacrilege?) I have taken them all out of the boxes and placed into big multi disc cases. They take up so less room and every now and then if we fancy a movie, and the bloody streaming services we pay for don’t have it, load up the player.

The guy at the local tip got all excited last week when I turned up with two carrier bags of dvd and Blu-Rays shame they were empty :)

The new heavy weight vinyls are very good quality these days. My eldest son always asks for them at Xmas and bday time.

I refuse to buy him jazz though ....
