Not had one of these for a while, well not since @Bozzy M.O.T. anyway,:ymdevil:=))=)););). I had this 7 series V8 4.0 in last Saturday for test and the owner said, "It's been making some knocking noises from the O/S/F for a bit now". Jeeze, how lucky has this guy been???

Just how that spring did not come over the lower cup and joust his tyre is beyond me. The only saving grace may have been that the upper end had got itself jammed behind the upper mounting. Lucky man.

Tony.

The best of these things is half the time people still drive them about only when needs an mot or something catastrophic happens then they deal with it until then people just plod about like its all ok scary :eek:

Ignorance is bliss Steve. He nearly s*** himself when I showed him it. I said you really shouldn't drive it away from here, (a kid at work lives near him and would've taken him home) but he returned with the car on Wednesday for repair.:(

Tony.

Many people don't Steve, the sad thing is, this man knew something was wrong but couldn't be bothered to find out what. THAT is scary.

Shocking incredible the guy had no idea
Can totally believe it Tony see things hanging off cars all the time people are just oblivious to or when you ask them about a knackered balljoint or broken spring etc they just tell you they turn the radio up :wideyed:

Beyond belief sometimes

Changed a couple of front springs on my mums 206cc today for the same reason, bugger of a job!!!

That they are Brian, that they are.:)

I had it happen to me twice on my fiesta.
The first time I knew something was wrong arrived at home and out with the torch to confirm what I thought was the problem.
The second was so obvious as the osf had dropped so much drove my car to the nearest garage at 10mph listening to the spring rubbing the tyre it was scrap by the time I arrived.

I have to say that I am quite guilty of this sort of stuff on my daily drive, I have had a bit of a knock for a while and not investigated it, had it been the Z I would have been on it straight away,

Amazing! Best part of 2 tonne of car and riding around with that. If your not mechanical but your aware something is wrong get it checked! If that spring pierced the tyre will at 70mph who knows.....

Its amazing when people know that there is something clearly wrong that they ignore it and just carry on!!
Then to drive it off knowing the damage!!! Thats just madness.

Found this on the net.
He braked too hard or just forgot to remove the foot from the pedal...?:(

Looks funny @Zeti but it probably was a tire shredded off and he had to stop the car I'd imagine. Did pretty much the same when a wheel came off my 4x4 Ford at about 80mph. Tried to roll to a stop but a semi was too close so hit the brake and flattened the brake disc and backing plate. The wheel took off down the highway and just veered off in front of an oncoming car, hit the ditch then a culvert and launched over the hydro lines, landed and shot past a lady in her flower garden then ran about 300m into their soy bean crop. By the time I found some parts on the highway the farmer had a tow truck from town on its way and we retrieved the tire. Hauled it into the small town shop where they had all the parts but a backing plate. Back on the road for Missouri in under 2 1/2hr. Amazing!! JIM

Quite a story!
...and with a happy end or better said: with a lucky end!

It was really a strange feeling sitting there watching the wheel and tire headed at that car while the truck simply and slowly dropped the front drivers side down to the road. I let it roll on the disc but a semi was coming up pretty quick so I hit the brake and steered it of to the side. Couldn't believe how far, how fast and how high it flew and it could have been sooo bad had it zigged off its track!! JIM

Luck crystal clear!
