Hopefully dumb - new front registration plate?

Hopefully this is a dumb question. There's a prominent crack in the acrylic covering the front registration plate. I was just going to get a new plate made up and fit it, since seems you can't get the acrylic on its own.

Any issues to worry about? Reason for asking is that the front plates on these seem very curved compared to other cars, and in fact it seems to be at that stress point in the centre that the acrylic has gone (possibly helped along by a stone, given the shape of the crack).

So anything special, or is a bog standard plate from Halfords or online going to be fine for this. I think the answer will 'all fine', but worth a check.

Halfords one should be fine - have used them on other cars.

Get a nice set of dealer plates made up from where your car was first registered from

I just got a set from e-bay but before i put the front one on i put it in front of the household radiator overnight with a small book on it to take the shape.
Turned out perfect, just make sure it is not a big book.

I seem to remember @Dino D used a similar idea to create a curve on his front plate.

You could end up needing two sets depending on your tester mate.;)

Those like Dave's shouldn't pass the test if you apply the regs.

German font mate. The little discs are the German area and mot. All off eBay. Just add a bit of authenticity. That's a big word for me innit! :D

I'm not saying metal plates in general are not MOT friendly just certain ones.
I'm also not saying I would fail them, just that you need to be aware that it's not as straight forward as you may think.

I know German font isn't strictly legal but it's spaced nicely and isn't trying to be anything it's not. It's not offended a tester yet mate.
