Is anybody in the similar situation as we are?
We are due to pay the final payment for our holiday in Ibiza the last two
Weeks of July.
I am as sure as I can be that this will not happen therefore do I pay the amount
Due and have a long battle to try and get a full refund for what looks like could
Be months if you do get it back,or cancel the holiday now and lose my deposit?

any thoughts would be appreciated

Who is it with mate. We were due to go yesterday with Jet2 and they gave us the option of either a full refund or re booking so we changed it for Fuertuventurer in November.
If you do not pay then you have broke the contract regarding the payment terms, i myself would still pay and potentially get a full refund otherwise they may just put it down to you cancelling and you get nothing back

We are with Tui who hopefully will be as safe as you can be ?
I realise I will lose my deposit because I have broken the contact.
I have heard of nothing but brick walls in place to prevent a refund,
Yes we could rebook for next year maybe but it’s the principle of
Them having my money for a whole year !!
Good luck with the November hol:whistle:
We have another booked to Portugal in October but wondering
If we will be able to be allowed to go on that one either:arghh:

Similar issue, we were going to Rome at the end of May, hopefully the flights will be cancelled or we're goosed.

Have you already paid in full then,I presume you have!
Any plans for a refund or rebook the hol?

We're in the same boat regarding our flights to Orlando. If we don't go for 9 weeks as planned they can and likely will charge us an inflated price.

Tony.

The holiday has been put back and yet to be determined when, it's just the flights we're holding out on.

I have to admit Jet2 were great. They contacted me last week and asked what we wanted to do, told us if we wanted a refund they would start the process straight away or we could rebook and they will give us extra legroom seats and a further £100 off the new holiday so we just looked online and decided that as we had paid we may as well just re book it. I did ask where we stood should travel being still restricted at the time of the new holiday and they told us we had the same rights as now

I was going to Vietnam for the whole of april and flying with KLM, we have took a voucher and will rebook for next year

We are/were in the same position , we have flights booked with easy jet to Tenerife end of June , for whole family of 8 , and a villa booked separately so no atol protection , when the balance of the villa was due I spoke to the company and they told me if we Could not go we would be refunded in full so we paid the balance , with easy jet flights were booked and paid for last year EU law states if they cancel we should be refunded but as already said that could involve a fight . We have travel insurance which we took out last year so should cover is for cancellation of holiday and all payments have been paid by credit card for extra protection , fingers now crossed one way or another

You’re still bound by the contract terms as are the provider until they are forced to cancel. All you can do to have any hope of a full refund is to pay the balance due.

The likelihood is that anything and everything this side of August is going to get cancelled I would have thought.
It depends if you want to write off the deposit you have paid to give you peace of mind about choosing where and when you decide to go on holiday.

I don’t see Spain being willing to allow people in to their holiday resorts any time soon despite being desperate for income. They’re going to want to open up gradually and in a controlled way. Am guessing but think it’s 90% likely that it will get cancelled, so a 10% chance you’ll pay and be forced to go or pull out and lose the whole amount if you don’t want to go.

You shouldn’t have a battle for a refund if they cancel, but check your contract terms. They may we’ll try for an alternative date or a voucher neither of which you have to accept.

We also have a holiday apartment we have paid for in the middle of July for our driving holiday i do not expect to be going but have been informed we can again either choose another date or get a refund, i am not sure regarding the tunnel though that may well be a claim back from the insurance, but that is 2.5 months away so will look into it around the end of June and see what we can do, i am hoping we can get on the September holiday to Side in Turkey but again not even sure about that, the thing being is Countries irrelevant of the virus can not go all the way through this year without allowing travel otherwise every Airline, ferry and so on will all cease to exist so something has to give Countries can not afford to pay for the Countries just to exist as nearly all rely on Tourism in one form or another, i just think holidays will be different as it maybe that you end up having to holiday but stay within a certain area of accommodation booked and like Spain started 2 years ago you will have to register when you arrive JMO

These events do bring out a benifit of paying on a credit card,as the card company become jointly liably if thing (not caused by the customer) go wrong. As I understand it this covers credit cards and debit cards but in some cases not charge cards .

I think there is a difference between debit and credit card protection , in that with a debit card the bank tries to refund by chargeback from the other bank account and with credit card the card company is liable

I've been in touch with eurotunnel as were off to France in June you can amend your crossing within 1 year of the booking date and can amend as many times as you want.

We’re meant to be flying 30th May :)
We’re just holding in , and hopefully they will cancel the flight :)
But we’re been going to the same apartments for a few year , it’s family run , with only 12 rooms , last year the family lost out as they were with tc , so we don’t think we will get out deposit back their :)
First time we’re ever done separate flights and booked direct as well :)
We will just see nearer the time , what happens :)

We had a holiday booked with Tui as well Brian and as we couldn't see it taking place we opted to change it to next year. One problem is whether or not the holiday is cancelled by the company or not. If Tui cancel for whatever reason you are entitled to a full refund from them, but if you can't or choose not to go for some reason like Covid 19 it's a problem.

Did you pay the full amount Ken?
Or can you change to next year on the deposit only?

We had our holiday cancelled by TUI on the 18th March. We were due to travel on 31st March. They offered us the choice of rebooking or a refund. As we've already got a holiday planned for later in the year we took the refund which we were told could take up to 4 weeks. On 18th April, just after TUI changed their terms and conditions on refunds, we got an email saying our money had been refunded to our credit card. It was back on the card within 2 days.

Heard that loads of people are having issues getting their money back from TUI though.

Personally, I would always go for the refund option if offered, not vouchers or another holiday. There is a very real chance that holiday companies / airlines could go under during the current climate no matter how big they are.
