Hi guys , on Thursday I received a phone call from a " investigator " she gave me details on a Raid on a house that had taken place , she said she had found documents on my Z she told me the old registration number and said it have now got a private plate , which I then said yes, she asked me lots of different questions , I asked her to send me a email asking me these questions so I could look them up ( I said that so I could hopefully find out if any of this was true ) I asked her her name etc which she told me , she said she would send me a email first thing in the morning which was yesterday , as the investigation team needs to sort this out , but have a guess what I still haven't had the email , I'm just glad I didn't give her any information on my Z , the only info I gave her was my email , what do you guys think

Presumably number withheld ?

Yes number withheld , makes you think what people are up too ,

I would say you have done the right thing in not giving them any specific details.

If it's legit they should have no problem in telling you who they are...

:( It's so easy for some people to fall for these scams , the person I spoke to sounded real at first but alarm bells started ringing , as I would of thought maybe the police would of come round to ask these questions if my documents ( which aren't my documents ) were found with papers at this house ;)

I believe you are correct in thinking that there is some scam involved or they are trying to get information out of you for whatever purposes. What would give me further concern is how they linked your phone number with you being a z owner. Perhaps you might try to think back on any past occurance that used your phone number with information about your car, Something that you might have had to fill out that included these two pieces of information. Maybe somewhere where you had to fill something out where someone could have been looking over your shoulder, as in a public place. Break's over, back to the tables. Frankie

It is a little alarming that the "Investigator" knew your car had a number plate change and also went to the trouble find your phone number, seems a lot of trouble to go to for whatever reason. Maybe pop into you local police office, explain the situation and see if the car/you are under any form of investigation?

Yeah that true Frankie , didn't think about how they got my phone number , something isn't adding up here , will have a think , but can't say I can remember anything of hand

Hi Brian , that's a good idea , might give them a call and see what they say , thanks

I would do as Brian has said, if it is not legitimate, this sort of thing is normally about Identity theft, at least you will have an official record of events should the worst happen, keep an eye on what you throw out in your rubbish as well, including shredded documents
