Saw this on the M27 this morning. Have not seen one of these for years. Good to see it still running and looking good for a 1967 Rootes Groupe car.

I had a Californian in the early 70's. It was a horrid car, nothing but trouble. But almost all cars were then!

And it's an estate, must be very rare.

Cute looking car, we saw a couple of Imps last month in Leicestershire. Must have been a club meeting around there.

Always an interesting car. One where you could easily alter its handling - using bricks and lumps of concrete =))

A lot of Hillman Imps ended up as donors for the Ginettas.

Made in Glasgow !!

You can still see the remains of the old Linwood plant today,

( hope these photos work as they are on my photobucket, ( and you know how good they are these days :rage:)

I've ben going to the Scottish Rootes Enthusiasts (SRE) - Moffat Classic Car Show for years and can't remember ever seeing one of these - loads of Imps and Davrian and Clansman derivatives

Being Rootes, there are loads of Hillman (Avenger, Imp, Minx), Sunbeam (Alpine, Rapier), Talbot (Lotus Sunbeam) - photos from the last few years can be found here ~ http://www.bmwccscotland.co.uk/?s=moffat&submit=Go

My dad had one, said it was the worse car he ever owned. Used to freeze up in the winter.

Well, that takes me back. Bit further than I actually wanted to go, but there you are. I remember my mother having one back in the sixties, I suspect it died in the seventies.:( Me and my two sisters in the back, and it seemed like a very big back.
And then in the eighties I came across loads of Imps doing a class known as silhouette racing. Was the side view of an Imp, but anything goes for the rest of it.

Nice. Proper little cars once you'd got the hang of sorting the water pump/head gasket issues. Well set up Imps were always a a match for Mini Cooper S's. Rootes cars were very under rated - for example the Hillman Hunter GLS. Twin Weber DCOE40 carbs on a Holbay tweeked engine. Very understated but quick car in the mid 70s. As a boy I always fancied the metallic mauve with a black vinyl roof.....

The Simca 100 had the same problem Dave, it was the radiator pipes which ran from front to rear on them which froze easily though. Always was cooling issues which marred a great little car much the same as the Rover cars of the 80's and 90's.

Absolutely agree Robert. I worked at a Chrysler garage from 77 to 86, even the Simca cars were good.
