hi. Phil here. Just got another zed. 2.0 topas blue. I'd call it the facelift one? Used to have a silver 2.8.

Hoping to meet some of you, I've lurked and looked at your cars and there are some lovely well looked after ones out there. I'm running on a low budget, as I'm retired so no doubt can't do anything glamorous to the car but I do need a new thermostat. I've been advised that a metal bodied thermostat housing is better but on eBay I've only seen plastic? Is there a good plastic one?

Oh and I've also seen some what seem to be too cheap radiators. And I'm a firm believer in you get what you pay for! Is fifty quid asking for trouble?

Please feel free to reply!

I'm in north Lincs. Next to the big bridge!

Thanks to Stacey for telling me about this site.

Hello and welcome from Truro. If you buy from a reputable supplier there's nothing wrong with buying cut price spares. I fitted a £70 radiator in my old Mercedes nearly 3yrs ago now without any problems. Buy one with a guarantee and you should be ok

Hi and welcome aboard! @BMBabe strikes again eh! Not to far away from our resident Zed Shed Midlands owner @t-tony who is selling a 2.0. Shame you couldn't have got your heads together. Enjoy the forum.

Welcome Phil! Can't beat a bit of Topaz :)

I've been advised that a metal bodied thermostat housing
That would be the impellers on the water pump, rather than the thermostat. We've bought a couple of 6cyl thermostats recently from GSF and they are perfectly good quality.

Welcome Phil!
Doing the regular maintenance and a little bit of care is glamourous enough for the Zed! Enjoy the car and the forum!

Hi and welcome to the forum from Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey. Glad to have you with us. You have a very good looking car. I've always been partial to that color. It looks to be in splendid condition! I was in your neighborhood last September (at least from my perspective) at a meet sponsored by @t-tony, It was near Torksey Lock at the White Swan. We all had such a great time. Its a pity you weren't a member then as you could have seen quite a lot of Zeds all in one spot. I'll look forward to meeting you the next time I get to the UK. In the meantime, you can have a lot of fun here and get all your questions answered. Welcome aboard! Frankie

Hi Phil from another yellow belly, that's a good looking car you have. If you need any help at all I'm not a million miles away, just ask!
There still a few places available for September 11th at the White Swan this year, probably only an hour away for you?

Tony.

A big thanks for all the welcomes! This is obviously the place to be. Wish I'd known when I had my last zed.
Yes the body work looks really good. Just the hood that's suffered a bit. Must have been used only with the hood down. Which would explain the good body I guess as its maybe not been out in the rain.... ?

I'll be happy when I've had all the wheels off, checked everything etc but that straight six is just so smooth.

Look forward to meeting you all.

Just need to work out where the dog is going to fit!

Btw if anyone knows of a reasonably priced wind deflector.... Should have taken it off the last one if I'd known they fetched that much!

Regards

Phil
