Hi there….well after over three years of joining the forum and 5 years of Z3 ownership, it’s taken a pandemic (or two!) to nudge me into introducing myself and saying ‘Hi’ a bit more formally. My name’s Peter and, to cut a long story short, I was looking for a reasonably priced open-topped retirement present to myself circa 2014 that was somewhat more comfortable, safer, and more fun than an old Triumph Spitfire I had in my youth. Cue a mate of my brother’s who was selling his 1998 2.8 Zed – in classic James Bond Atlanta Blue with the right interior…. that he had owned and nurtured since new. Not just for a great price but in great condition too, with factory hardtop, tonneau cover etc etc (and FBMWSH as the best ads say). Well, since April 2015 I’ve become increasingly besotted with R280, and found the forum to be an absolutely brilliant resource (thanks Aceman for the great seat bushes and guidance on how to fit, and Mike Fishwick for being ‘the guru’ on just about anything I ever needed to know..) Although annual mileage has been low, undertaken largely between Sussex and my birth county of Cornwall, I’ve done little apart from maintainance….apart from trying to sort the inevitable clutch drag/stiff gearbox (new oil – thanks Mike yet again); precautionary stuff like a new waterpump, and sorting out tramlining via a set of new tyres.
So really looking forward to putting more miles on the clock and learning even more about our brilliant cars….thanks all for such a friendly and helpful forum….
