Hi guys!
Really pleased to have been recommended this group by several people whilst on the quest for my first (long awaited!) Z3.
After having my car totalled in a hit and run recently (not a Z3!) I've decided to scratch that itch that I've had for so long as it was ❤At first sight when I first saw a Z3 years ago (might've actually said "that's it, that's my car!") But had to have 4x4s etc until now.
Any advice, tips, or anything else to help me choose the right car would be much appreciated as I'm like a kid in a candy store with a smaller budget so don't want to fall at the first hurdle and buy a lemon as I want them all!
Looking forward to getting to know the site and you all and getting involved.
Thanks for having me and its lovely to meet you all x

Hi Elaine, firstly welcome from me near Lincoln. Secondly get out and drive as many models as you can so you have an idea of what you want. Thirdly, where are you located?

Tony.

Hi Tony,
Thank you! That's great advice. Travelling to High Wycombe to TD a 2001 Z3 1.9 105k on the clock tomorrow so rather excited although I think it may have rather a few rust issues, on the sills etc.
Oh and I'm based in Chichester

Hi Elaine, that's shame I was hoping you might be nearer to me as I am hosting a small gathering at home this Saturday, though in all fairness it will be mainly Z3 2.8s and Z4 3.0i and Si coupe, there should be a 1.9 too.
Please don't take this the wrong way ( and NO offence intended to Z3 1.9 owners here) but I bought a 2.0 Z3 (Auto) and later wished I had bought a 2.8 or 3.0 Z3, instead I ended up with a 2003 Z4 3.0i (auto), so please take your time deciding what you want.

Tony.

If I were closer I'd have been there with bells and whistles!
Thank you, I really appreciate the input and am sure with help I will find the right car :) I have also been having a look at a few 2.8 and am trying not to knee-jerk buy through excitement if I'm honest!
If I find a 2.8/3 to be more suited I'll wait and save! Patience was never a virtue I knew well!

Me neither, and that's why I reach patience. Enjoy the search Elaine.

Hi Elaine and :welcome:. I don't know if you could work this, but if you see a Z3 you fancy it would be great if a forum member local to you could go along and check it out for you. Where are you situated? Also search for buyers guides on this forum and zroadster.net for a checklist.

Hello and welcome to the forum. I live in Truro and I got my black zed in Poole, Dorset and my silver zed from Reading. Don't be afraid to look farther afield for the right car

There is a lovely 1.9 coming up for sale on here done 76k. It's a lovely looking one too without rust issues. It's on the first few posts if you want to have a look.
Ooh and hi from Mansfield!

:welcome: good advice already ..... agree don't impulse buy there's loads of good Z3s out there, look at and drive as many as you can before you buy, be prepared to travel, it could be worth it. Look on the members map if you are travelling to look at one and see if there is a member in the area that can come with you to look..

Good luck with the search..
