I am new to this site. I own a 2001 BMW Z3 3.0i, and love it.
My passenger window drive motor is on it's last legs and at times can't lower it. I notice there are OEM window drive motors that are made in USA and some OEM made in Mexico. The ones made in Mexico have a label Bosch. Was just wondering which ones are better (last longer)?

Generally speaking anything made by Bosch, be it in the US or Mexico, should be made to the same standard Clint. I have to say it is unusual for a window lift motor to fail (they're normally bullet proof), more often that not the fault lies with the guides, rollers and slider tracks. The fact that the problem lies with lowering the glass makes me think the problem is not with the motor itself.

Either way, welcome Clint to our forum. Where are you located please?

Tony.

Thanks for the info Tony! I will have to look into the guides, rollers, and slider tracks.

Hi, welcome from Mansfield - UK.

As Tony said previously. The window is most likely the guide clips on the runner. There are 2 white clips per side. Not to bad a job to do. There’s even some videos on YouTube to show how it’s done.

Thanks Jjim. I will look into that.

Hi Philip. We are close. We will have to go take our Z3's for a drive together some time.

Clint, if you can get your Zed over here to Wales, then I would love to go for a drive with you. We are not as close as you may have thought. It would be a lot warmer and drier in your Cardiff.
