Afternoon guys, I’m new to the forum so big hello to you all.

I just got myself a 1998 z3 1.9 as a summer runabout.
This year I was planning on getting a motorbike as part of my ongoing mid life crisis (41 next week!) but a life threatening injury at Xmas (torn carotid artery) has sadly put those dreams to bed...so next best and slightly more safe option...2 seater convertible roadster and what better than the BMW Z3.

loved it for 25 years when I watched Goldeneye (still feel it’s a shame we never saw those stinger missiles in action!).

I have a few questions about the car as I’m a car novice but this will be my new hobby and from what I’ve read from the sidelines I’m in the right place for the advice I’m going to need!

best

Matt.

What a top welcome. Thanks guys.

ok few quick fire questions any pointing in the right direction would be great.

1. can the electric seat up and down motor be easily fixed, or is there a manual override so I can set the chair to my height and leave it there?

2. Tips for dealing with water getting in between the windows and roof. (Other than don’t drive in the rain!!)

3. recommendations for an arm rest for the z3?

I will be doing some searches etc but thought I’d throw a few questions out there for starters.

Armrest ? See @Jjim and @Sean d build thread, making one from a 3 series, quite the best, cheapest addition by far.
Stuck seat motor, try “tapping” the motor with a small hammer whilst operating the switch.
Check the window mechanism by lowering the glass about 3” or so and grip the top of the glass with both hands and try moving the glass backwards and forwards. Chances are the drop glass isn’t firmly fixed to the lifter mechanism.

I have seat motors if you need one, it may just be jammed, e46 arm rest but does take some nodding so it looks oem
