Hello! A bit about me - I live in Brighton and have only had my Z4 since last September - but loving it! Prior to that I had an R53 Mini Cooper S (a lot of fun to drive!) and before that an E46 320ci Coupe, but this time I wanted a 2 seater convertible with RWD and 6+ cylinders. It was between the 986 Boxster and E85 Z4, but finally settled on Z4. Funnily enough my mother decided to get a Boxster shortly afterwards which I have driven and it is a great car, but I prefer my Z :)

Anyway, my car is a 2004 Z4 3.0i manual roadster in Sterling grey. It took quite a bit of searching to find the right one, and although I would have preferred black with red leather, this one was a great spec with the heated M Sport seats, Carver 10 speaker hi-fi system, sat nav, xenon headlights and seemed well cared for.

Modifications so far:
  • 18" CSL Reps (I had them on my E46 but kept them when I sold the car as they had nearly new Rainsport 2 tyres all round). The Z4 originally had 19" BBS CH reps but the tyres didn't have much life so I sold them on. I believe the car left the factory with style 108s and although I would love to get another set (IMO they are the best looking wheels for the E85) they are notorious for corroding which puts me off.
  • Roof motor relocated to boot
  • GapTech RCH+ module
  • Multi function steering wheel added (retrimmed with extra padding)
  • Cruise control stalk added
  • ZHP gear knob
  • Intravee for iPod connectivity
  • Hard wired USB charging port + aux input (with bluetooth handsfree adapter)
  • Hard wired dash cam
  • Brodit phone mount
  • OEM Wind deflector
  • Stubby aerial
  • Chrome & black kidney grilles (the previous owner had fitted matte black ones, and I wasn't too keen on the original chrome & grey)
I'm pretty happy with the car at the moment, no mods planned for the future apart from possibly changing the wheels once these tyres wear out - not sure what with yet but it won't be for a while as I don't do big mileage (10 mile round trip to work, which is also shared by my motorcycle!)

Here are some photos - the first one was taken shortly after I bought it, and subsequent ones are more recent - after a wash/polish/wax at my parent's house which has a driveway for proper car washing (I live in a flat with communal parking which makes washing cars a bit difficult!)

Hi and :welcome: from Warwickshire.
Agree with the 108s. I bought a set recently. It's totally transformed the car.

Welcome, nice looking zed with some good mods. I think I prefer the look of the 19's but the CSL's don't look bad either. Has the steering wheel been for the Royals treatment? Looks thicker and it has the perforated leather.

Thanks, I will check out your thread when I get a spare moment. It's always good to add little touches to make your own car slightly different - not too keen on major visual mods but more "OEM+" style

I agree that the 19s did look better but the tramlining was pretty bad (the tyres were good quality - Ultrac Sessantas on the front and Pilot Sport 2 on the rear, but all around 3-4mm which may have been the reason?) Also the rears were stretched slightly - perhaps to avoid rubbing - but the wheel rim protruded from the tyre and I was so nervous about kerbing them as they were almost unmarked! But if I did go for a set of 19s next, it would probably be some style 230s - quite unique but I have seen a couple of Z4s with them which looks good!

And yep it was a Royals wheel, makes a massive difference and looks so much better!
