Mid life crisis time, I am 50 next birthday and decided to get myself a toy, been looking for a Z3 for a few months and ended up with this 2l 99 face lift and omg do I love it, only driven it for about 60 miles before work commenced today, I am a panel beater and painter so its getting the full works and colour change to Estoril Blue ,
Today I removed the bumpers os sill and wing, the bumpers have been prepped and are now in primer, as expected once the sill was removed I found very heavy rust to the chassis, however after a bang about with a hammer there is no rot so, so far the only welding required is to the end of the outer sill

Hey Sean, nice to see you've made a start and it doesn't look too bad under the outer skin. Estoril blue is going to look very nice.

Thanks Tony, Nice looking Z in your avatar, I am still not totally sold on Estoril as I do like some of the Graphite colors.

This one is growing on me to be honest Sean, it's Sterilng Grey and it does carry road film quite well and doesn't scream out "wash me" which is a good thing when it's your daily drive car. Mind you the way it's raining here at the moment I ought to leave it out and it'll get a good rinse tonight.=))

Tony. I have been looking at "sparkling graphite as another colour choice but wanted something a little more fun, the car will be put to sleep during the colder months and only come out for some summer touring

If you're having a summer car you want one which will really shine in the sun, that's assuming we get some, we're certainly due for some. @Grumpy car is I think Montreal Blue and it really sparkles in the sunshine. Not too far from me on the lovely A46 ;). I will be keeping an eye on your updates, looking forwards to seeing the progress mate. Put yourself in the shop window, there are plenty of members who may be in need of your talents.:)

Tony.

ps. Do you have any experience on bonding spoilers etc on? I'm thinking of putting an original style one on my Z4.

Hi Steve, I have considered some way out colours but I would feel a bit of a t**t every time I get out due to my age.

Rob, We can bond spoilers, we are very good at what we do, the business has been established for over 30 years and we look after new car dealerships including Honda, Seat, Skoda and Mitsubishi, the guy that owns the business loves classic car restoration
