Sorry for the long story lol
If it's been stood for so long it could be stale fuel? Try filling up and giving it a good spanking, could be just what it needs.Sorry for the long story lol
@Faheem thanks for the help, I have got inpa but find it too complicated to use, I’ve taken off the throttle body have it clean etc even changed the MAF! I can’t seem to get it to run properly. Exhaust is blowing too so needs new one, needs new hood, the list goes on. But my aim it to make it drivable. I’ll take a look at google see if I can find anything.Hi @Neil Patel happy to help out, your engines slightly different to mine as mine is the M44 whereas yours will be the M43, it does, however, sound like you have checked all the basics. I'd do the same - check for any vacuum leaks in the system, it's odd that the idle gets rough when warm. Usually it's the other way around, i.e. if the cracks in the hoses are small enough they seal themselves when warm.
@Brian4 has access to Inpa which would provide more insight than your average OBD scanner.
Have you done a google search based on your engine code to see what the common faults are for your symptoms?

Welcome to the forum from Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey. I have read through this thread. Sorry to hear of your problems. While I own 2 Z3s I never had to work on the engines and don't know alot about them. Since you've already replaced the MAF, unless your new one is faulty, which can happen, then this is ruled out. I have had the exact problem with other cars that I've owned. Since I've never owned a new car, the older ones I've had developed problems quite often. When ever this problem occured and it wasn't the MAF, then it usually was a leak in an air hose or the IAC (idle air control valve). When this valve goes bad, the engine runs normally while warming up, but soon after attaining operating temp., the idle begins to lope or briefly run fast then slow, then fast then slow and so on. The problem with my telling you this is that I don't even know if the Z3 HAS a IAC valve. @t-tony can help with this. If it does, don't automatically but a new one. They ofter can be removed and cleaned up. They get coated with carbon soot. I've used a good Throttle Body Cleaner on it and this really does the job just fine. If it is defective and can't be cleaned up, then you have to get a new one. I just have been looking on the internet and saw this:hi
Just joined the group I have a 2003 1.9 Z3 which is nice but needs tic. Running rough looking to get some assistance and meet up with some Z owners. I also run my own Detailing business and dobcarbon cleaning also!
