Ok then when the car gets warm the revs start to go up and down and it’s running lumpy? Any ideas? Thanks

Could be a number of things. Best starting by plugging on a code reader and see what comes up.

Lots of mention of the MAF and/or split hose allowing air into the system. Others will be able to advise better.

Hi Neil and welcome from me near Lincoln. As said thoroughly check all rubber hoses and trunkings for cracks and air leaks but also my guess would be crankshaft position sensor failing.

Tony.

Hi @Neil Patel also from near Leicester. Have a good check on the rubber hoses around the intake side as these can split and allow excess air into the system.

Hi
Hi @Neil Patel also from near Leicester. Have a good check on the rubber hoses around the intake side as these can split and allow excess air into the system.
mate thanks for that, I have replaced the small three on the vacuum end and liked at the others but can’t see any leaks also, I think I need to get one of those smoke machine gadgets. This car was bought by my mate he said it was nice he drive it from Reading in Berkshire to London and as he drive into his drive the clutch went on it! Then he left it parked on the road for a year after that it didn’t start then it started with new plugs, etc but did not run when you let go of the accelerator.
After two mechanics and 700 quid later they couldn’t figure it out so I had it recovered up here in Leicester. After some tinkering the thermostat was jammed so changed ICV jammed, changed and put computer on it came up with crank position sensor so changed it now it runs but when it gets warm it goes up and down on the revs?
