If you are looking at a 1.9, suggest seek a M44 engine (twin cam). 50% more power than a MGB at 140 bhp. Great value for money at the moment.:)

If you move quick you will secure a bargain. The poor weather has meant that prices have not really started to rise as they normally would during spring.

But with better weather on the way (allegedly) we may see a bounce.

Contrary to some opinion prices tend to be higher Mar-May when, like yourself, people are looking to secure a car ahead of the summer months.

If you only wanted to invest £1,000, with a bit of haggling this will buy you a prefacelift 1.9 at the moment. Useable but needing some love.

£2k will buy you a nicer facelift 1.9. You’re looking more like £3k starting point for a nice 6 cylinder car.

Hi, and welcome from me in Cardiff. Good luck with the search. It will be well worth it when you find the right one.

Cough, cough, who says the facelift is nicer than a pre-facelift. Don't go upsetting people now.
