hello,

I am in the market for a 2.8 at a bargain price to be honest. I am wanting this car as a show/project car.

I was pointed to the forum by Stacey, BMBabe (haha) she said don't laugh.

What kind of things should I look out for in the 2.8 as it will be a high mileage car due to my budget. 0ver 100,000.

Here is my daily...

Welcome Nathan,

Plenty of things to keep an eye open for when looking, but the 6cyl engines are usually bomb proof. Suspension components and rubber hoses in the engine bay tend to be the most common complaints. It's a driveway mechanics dream to work on though!

Shout out with any specific questions...

Excellent. Just what I want to hear...

Suspension will be changed and most probably engine bay hoses as well.

Thanks all

Welcome from Canada!! A 100,000+ milage is not high miles as these cars are13 yrs or older. There's lots of buying tips by Mike Fishwick you can find by searching in the menu. Take some time and take a roam through it to see what each area has to offer and bring back your list of questions for some very knowledgable people to answer. Good luck in your search, JIM

There is lot's of info on these great little cars, personally I would take more notice of owners in the here and now because the general condition of the Z3 is evolving as we speak and what may or may not have been relevant a few years ago might not be so now. Talk to someone who owns and uses one now.;)

Tony.

Hello from Cornwall. You'll find a selection of 2.8's on Ebay. Look at and test drive as many as you can. Mine was the first one I looked at. I just knew it was "the one".

Hello from Mansfield. Mines a 2.8 and done 92k. It truly drives as tight as any car I have ever driven.
As above, hoses, bushes and rubbers are the things to get stuck into.
Enjoy the forum :)

Thank you all...

The car I am looking at has done 137,000 miles. Hopefully it's ok.

Pics look clean but I know they can be deceiving. Saying that. For the money I am spending, I'm not being fussy.

Probably worth mentioning the cooling systems can be a bit of a pain in the bum at times but as mentioned, the engine itself is fantastic and pretty much everything you'll ever need to do will already have been done with a decent how to thread - mostly on here :)

You should be able to pick up a decent 2.8 for £2k. Don't be too concerned about 137k mileage either, these cars were made to be driven
