Always thought a hard top made for a quieter ride ? But I don't have one so don't really know.

Welcome to the forum @TRUDI LUBIEWSKI from Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey. Fine looking car that you have. I thought I'd like to get a hardtop for my car but they're hard to come by and extremely expensive over here. I hope you get out on a few cruises. @t-tony is having a get together soon. It would be a bit of a drive from Scotland but a great chance to get out and drive that beast with the top down and the wind in your hair. You could probably book a place to stay over and return the next day. I was there last year. It was a bit of a trip for me and I couldn't take my Z but it was such a wonderful thing to meet SO MANY of the members at the same time. They'll all make you feel right at home. I believe another member from Scotland is attending, @tower. There is always the possibility that you could meet him and other members that might be going there from Scotland and have your own cruise just getting there. It might turn out to be a great deal of fun for you JUST GETTING THERE. It's just a thought, but an exciting one. I've met @tower last year at the same meet and he's a peach. I don't think I can make the 3200 mile trip this year but I certainly did't regret it last year as we had so much fun. See if you can make the trip, you won't regret it. Good luck and once again, welcome to the forum. FrankieView attachment 40602 Just bought my Z4 2 weeks ago and LOVE her. Treated her to a lovely hardtop today and OMG road noise is awful, silent with softie on. ANY advice how to fix welcome. Looking forward to a big run out to meet other Z owners but Im in Scotland and JUST missed one yesterday .
I get road noise in mine too Trudi but with the soft top. I took off the original wheels(Turbine style) fitted with run flats and fitted 18" 108's with Goodyear F1 Eagle tyres and it's pretty much still the same. I was expecting a HT would improve it for winter. It certainly did on my Mazda years ago.View attachment 40602 Just bought my Z4 2 weeks ago and LOVE her. OMG Tony I wrote road noise instead of wind noise. Ive just changed that. duh! My car is SO quiet with the soft top ,I think I need to rethink the hardtop. Everything works out well for me ,so im sure my mech will sort it. I will post results . Sorry you get road noise though. Its SO great to have like minded folks to talk to about Z s.I get road noise in mine too Trudi but with the soft top. Tony.
Well that's reassuring Trudi, I'm seriously thinking of getting a HT as this is now my one and only car. The tyre noise I get is mainly due to the crap road surfaces here in Lincs. Do they use the tar and gravel road dressing system up where you are?OMG Tony I wrote road noise instead of wind noise. Ive just changed that. duh!
