Hero

Another sad loss he had a good innings though what a man R.I.P Rodger......:(

I can remember when he played Ivanhoe and I think that was before he played Simon Templar. My mom used to drool when he was on the box

In the Persuaders It was Tony's Dino I loved..... It's still my favourite car! (After Zelda of course)

Even Roger Moore didn't think he was a great actor. But that's not the point. I love the humour he brought to the role and his Bond stacks up as well as anyone's. Timothy Dalton was the only weak link for me.

But what I liked best about him was how funny and self effacing he was when interviewed (right up to the end). He was a lovely down to earth bloke. And did a lot of good work with UNICEF. He got his knighthood for that - not acting. Me and me old Mum were going to see him do his one man show next time he came to town.

What a shame he died on a day when his tributes were inevitably lost in the bigger picture.

Spot on Rob.

Tony.

Awesome. It's not just about whether you liked him as JB is it?, he was a true Gentleman.

Tony.

ps. Thank you.
Absolutely. Too many non-entity 'entertainers' around these days. Roger Moore was definitely not one of them. One of the last of his type I'm afraid.

Thankfully we still have Michael Caine who continues to turn out very watchable films and is always good to listen to as well. If you've never seen Harry Brown (2009) it's Michael Caine at his best IMHO and he was 76 when he did that.

I always thought that Roger Moore had the most distinctive speaking voice you could ever hear. You knew instantly it was him as soon as he spoke the first syllable.

Really, for me, the best best James Bond was the one inside my head when I was reading the James Bond books. Does anyone remember James Bond comic strip in The Daily Express?

:drinks:

Bonzo.

No, but I remember "Hagar the Horrible" in the Sun.;)

Tony.

Persuaders my favourite, typical Roger Moore bit hammy but clean entertainment.

In my defense, I never bought a copy of that rag but the blokes at work did.
But, I did very much like to look at Samantha Fox.....:D
