We have had this discussion on the Triumph forum in the past.

When you see all the adverts of a convertible car with the roof down, the windows are always also down

Why? because it looked better

I always drive with the windows down when i have the roof down.

But so many people drive with them up, I have tested this with the triumph and it has been proven that there is less wind buffing

with the windows down.

I have not had the Z3 for long enough to experiment as yet to see what is better.

so boys and girls what are your thoughts?

Took the Z3 from Swindon to Colchester this weekend, and because it was such a nice day, obviously we had the hood down.
To start with we had the windows down, but once we hit the M4 it got extremely buffety. So I put the windows up and it was far more comfortable.
This is with a wind deflector fitted, which I guess agrees with peterandjenny's post.

When I am driving in town or on minor roads, it is definately windows down. It looks so much better!

Roof down & :

- windows down when by myself

- drivers window down and passenger window up when SWMBO in car

- both windows up 5 minutes after SWMBO has been in the car

The zed definately has much less buffeting with the side windows up. Its easy to check just put someone with long hair in the car and they will curse you.

Depends on temperature: nice warm day = windows down. If it's a bit chilly = windows up + windstop fitted. Sunglasses on at all times when top down B-) it's the law.
