How do I know if hear will fit my 2000 1.9 Z3

Yes, you'll just need to cut a cylindrical hole in the plastic above the seat belt mount.

They offer no roll over protection

Yep they are just show hoops. Think @t-tony had a set on his old Z3. Pretty sure they are universal.

So what secures the roll bars in place, do you buy a kit ?

There are struts under the plastic for it to locate into.

My advice, save up for the proper OEM kit, those 'show bars' look bloody awful IMHO.....
