The so called 'Power roof' on the Z3 is about as much use as the spare wheel. When looking to buy a Z3 I would try to get one with the Manual top.Pity that most better Z3 s come with power top!

I changed a manual to a power one, much better in my opinion, and if the better ones comes with it, then it was also recognised as desirable for it's customers, by BMW.
It is an easy change back to manual and you can sell the bits on for a profit.

Had Z3 s with power and manual , the manual is quicker to open and close. The power is just ' partial power ' and the time consuming clamping / unclamping is just the same. The powered bit is slower than manual. Just can't see the point. The fact that it is specified on many models as well as the plastic rear window and spare wheel are just the few poor aspects of the Z3. Still love the Z3, it just looks great.
