TBH trying to diagnose a noise on an internet forum is worse than looking for a needle in a haystack, it needs to be heard. Any chance you can record/video the noise and post it up. You'll have to load it on You Tube (or similar) then link to it on here as you cant post video/audio directly on the forum.

Hi Mint.

I will try get a recording of it yes. Il have wait till someone can record it for me whilst im driving. Might be a while with Christmas etc but will try get it recorded asap

My thought is the diff.

If it is, it will be most noticeable in top gear on the motorway. You can make the noise stop by having the engine match the car with just the right amount of power for that speed. Too little and it whines, too much and it whines. The speed doesn't matter, it's whether the car is being "pushed" by the engine, or "held back" by the engine.
