Hi fellow Zedders.
Anyone in or around the Hertfordshire area got a tool to remove and replace the outer bottom ball joint or can help removal and fitting please or know a man that can.

Hi ya @Mnbrennan may have some tools but he isn't around this weekend

Really testing my patience this car just after plenty of work and money spent this happens.

I wouldn't worry too much, this is a wear an tear item and would happen with any car. I would get it checked first to make sure this is the cause of the clunk. you don't want to waste time and money.

Just a matter of finding someone trusted that knows about Zeds and won't get ripped off.

Unfortunately I don't have a ball joint removal tool, I know Mac has one

Not even 100 per cent sure it's that bit. As i have the part could be worth trying.
Can't be much else as drop links done only leaves top ball joint but was told these don't give a occasional knock clonk.

Thanks Raymond my last mechanic did the passenger side it took him 3 hours that way and said he would not do another one he would replace the whole arm on future similar jobs.
That's why i thought the proper tool might help
Not really a job for a women so i fear it's a trip to garage in the future when funds dictate.

Hi @Tracy Dee i seem to recall a member buying the tool you need just recently but can't recall who it was! Anyone remember? His post came with pics. HTH JIM
 
There is a member who has bought this tool but he is up north. I can't see how a ball joint would create an intermittent knock to be honest. My first check would be to raise the front of the car and check ALL fixings for tightness and that all the springs are seated correctly. Wish I could be more help.

Speaking to Lee he said he checked everything for tightness at the front end and it's only started since having the drop links done it wasn't there before they were changed.
It's getting a real pain now to be honest problem after problem can't keep spending like this it's had lots spent over the last year never known a car like it.
We don't know what it is do i want another garage trip.:(

Its a 20 year old car, you are going to get these problems and just need to take it on the chin I'm afraid, they are after all just wear and tear
 
My advice is this. If it's only happening intermittently and goes away after hearing it the first time or so, it can't be anything serious enough to worry over. IF it developes into a more regular thing well then there's more likely something to see and be able to spot. Even just having jacked up a car and having done nothing can induce a noise from components under the car sometimes. Unless it becomes a frequent problem, ignore it and enjoy your car Tracy.

I know it's 20 years old I expect that but i have really tried to get it in great mechanical condition with lots of money and time invested .But it's just not giving me a chance every other week there's something it's not like it's doing much mileage for the money spent.
Really been unlucky .:(
