Some time ago I checked my boot loom and found the grey/blue wire broken. I fitted a connector and hey presto my boot started to lock with the central locking. after a while I had a period of intermittant passenger door staying locked shut syndrome, which seemed to pass. Well now the passenger door is locked shut again and has been for some time. As it's deadlocked by the central locking I cannot open it with internal or external handles. Are there any other cables in the boot loom which if broken would cause this failure? Could it be a sticky actuator? Wires loose or off on the Actuator? Meachanical component failure? Has anyone succesfully removed a door card with the door locked shut?

I need to sort this as it is preventing me giving rides to the legions of nubile young ladies who keep asking to accompany me!

Hope to hear from you techs out there soon.

Cheers,

Bonzo

Swamper old buddy, referring to your central-locking-help thread. it says that you removed the door card with the door locked shut! Can you take me through how you did that please?
Cheers,

Bonzo.

course bonzo,,,but theres no real secret its the same as when you have the door open.
but once the inside door handle and plastic surround is off the the card unscrewed you work your way down from the top, then down inside the card with a flat head...dont forget the card bends a bit...once you've started your it will just get easier .

can you do me a favour before you start......put you key into position 2..removed the battery then reconnect it...if the lock is connected it will fire the lock open

Swamper mate, your last bit not too clear! So, key into ignition, turn key until 2 clicks and all warning light illuminated. Remove the battery from the key? or did you mean disconnect the car battery? Then refit / reconnect appropriate battery and the lock may open? Sorry for being a bit slow on all of this. When you say work your way down from the top with a flat head do you mean somthing to lift off the door card popper fixings? By the way, did you have to change your actuator ?
Cheers,
Bonzo.

sorry mate it had been a bit rushed....key into ignition, turn key until 2 clicks and all warning light illuminated...then disconnect the car battery...the alarm will sound (its got a back up power supply..well mine did)..leave it a couple of minutes if you can..leave the key in position 2...then reconnect battery...if the lock is connected it will fire into open position ....try this before you take the card off...its how i opened my door

i used a flathead screwdriver to pop the poppers from top to bottom to remove the card...but once i removed i still couldn't get the lock to open..so for me was a fruitless exercise.
it seemed that the lock had gone into a deadlock state and no matter which rods a pulled it was not going to budge...you might have better luck..
i never got round to replacing the actuator and just used the key to lock it.

just read your post on the other site....sound like the exactly same problem i had

Cheers mate, If like you I had a key lock on the passenger door side I wouldnt bother with the C.L. on that side and just use the key like you. So you managed to open the door anyway and didn't have to remove the door card with the door locked shut. Result for you anyway. I wonder, can you retro fit key locking mechanism to the passenger door and still keep the existng central locking?
Cheers,

Bonzo.

i removed the card with the door locked....then found out how to open the door with the key / battery trick

I phoned an Indy I've used b4 re. this and he said don't go down the battery disconnect route or you could damage some control units! To be honest, we are in the process of moving to Aylsham in Norfolk (when contracts have been exchanged) and so busy sorting stuff for this that I'm going to let them sort it out!
How does one join The East Angia Crew? Are there secret rituals and incantations to learn? Or is it more involved than that?
Anyway, I'd like to join!
Cheers all, and thanks,
Bonzo.

What, you mean I don't get to mix blood with a senior member or swear allegiance till death or stuff like that?
