Help an amateur in Essex?

Just wanted to say my initial response wasn't to start a witch hunt, and I do see all sides of what has turned in to an off topic discussion. Sometimes things don't come across well in the written word, and I'd hate to see anyone stop contributing here for whatever reason. We'll still be here whatever you decide on. Like all communities/forums/groups, sometimes there are a few unexpected bumps along the way.

Hi and welcome from central Canada!! Hang in there, help will come around. Also might I suggest getting a manual from BMW covering your car so once you get your codes read you'll be able to start in fixing whatever it is that's wrong!!! JIM

Err, there is not one covering tech aspects for the Z3 from BMW.
If you do have one, stick it in a pdf file and send it to us please.

The only ones are for USA cars and I do have two! If you had a z3 96-98 and needed it I'd certainly do something with it! JIM

Just tidied up a few comments which quite frankly weren’t helping anybody out. Think it’s time that this thread moves on and deals with the original request.

Welcome from Southampton, I’ve only had my zed for 2 years and met some really nice helpful people . There are a load of meet ups which you should try and get to , such fun !

Hi all,

Despite my post title sounding like a dodgy ad... I'm after some pointers.

My little z, my first car, has a few odd things that I want a pro to look at. And not a mechanic.

Couple of examples:

1) heated seats - not working. Looks like cut cables under seat. But unsure

2) passenger window drops reeeeeeal slow

3) Engine management light permanently on (I don't have OBD reader)

4) Horn started honking whilst turning. I've pulled the fuse. Rattling now from steering wheel.

I expect these are all super simple and something I can youtube, but I learn from doing.

So anyone in Romford or near, can lend me a few hours one weekend? I want them heated seats! Winter is coming!

Happy to chuck a few £ or some beers. But I ain't rolling in it!

Sorry to be such a novice. Here to learn.
Welcome from Somerset (I lived in Essex for 30 years, Where abouts are you ?)
I have only owned my Z3 for just over 2 years which was in fairly good condition when I got it but with various electrical/technical problems and asking questions on this forum has helped me very much get m0ost of them sorted, next weekend they should all be done.
There will be someone in your area who will come and give advice/help in due course and has been said tackle one thing at a time.
There are various helpful areas on this forum to guide you through some problems have a look at the list at the top of the forum under I think "Articles" Happy Zeding Geoff
