Hi all...... I'm very new to all this so hope all my annoying questions don't drive you all too mad. I don't have a Z3 just yet but I'm looking hard. We have had a bike for many years and decided to hang up our leathers and be a little safer but still with the wind in our hair and the feel of the road while on our various tours.

My first questions are..... What's a wide body??? (apart from the obvious) and what's the best version of a Z3 to try and buy.

Thanks in advance so far :)

Tony

Hi Tony and welcome to the forum, best to try any and all you can. Mine is a 2000 2.0 auto with 6 cyl motor. A lot of the members on here have the 4 cyl (M44) and swear by them. There are wide body, facelift versions and the originals too.

Tony.

Oh, and hello and welcome from Truro.

You can get a decent car for around £1500. There's plenty around. Have a look on Ebay and go and look at some local to you.

To be totally honest I do think I would have liked a bit more under the right hoof, but, I didn't know what I know now. Shop around and try lot's still my advice. It is a personal thing but I do like the sound of a straight six, ever since we had an old Standard Vanguard to thrash around a field when we were kids.

Zeds are pretty much bullet proof really and most are cherished by their owners. They don't tend to suffer too much from rust either. BMW engines go for ever if serviced regularly.

Look for one with a good interior and some decent service history as this will show you how much it's been loved.

There aren't really any bad points. If your boy's a car techie you can't go wrong

Welcome Spitty, good luck with the search. If you are patient you may well source a cherished forum car with impeccable provenance. I was fortunate in purchasing my ///M car from the sister Z4 site :)

Thanks faxZ......... Now I love the Z4 but the old school in me loves a classic look of the Z3......... I would consider a z4 as a daily driver
