Hello everyone, newbie here!

Been looking for sites to get advice from. Got a Z3 2.0L Straight 6. y2000. It's developed a fault whereby it cuts out when coming to a standstill, junctions, parking etc. Not sure but it seems to happen when the engine warms up. Sometime when restarting you get a feeling that it hasn't started in the right frame of mind! Restarting can usually make the car sound and run better, but with the stalling problem still there. When it is running poorly it appears to have no power on hill climbs. I purchased a cheap OBD Bluetooth device and have obtained the errors attached.

Since then I have replaced both of the cam sensors, the MAS and fixed the air pipe post MAS.
I would welcome any ideas that you may have.

Many thanks in advance.

Hi @RicardoUK , my 2000 year 2.0 Z3 did exactly the same when the inlet cam sensor failed. Did you replace it with a "cheap" one or an OEM quality one, I used the cheaper one on mine and it didn't last very long, when I fitted an OEM it was fine, do you still have any codes stored? The Mass Air Flow (MAF) would be another option but the hoses need to be very closely examined to check for leaks.
My instant gut feeling is the inlet cam sensor is not working correctly, either the sensor itself or the wiring connections.

Tony.

Have you changed the coolant temp sensor one of your fault codes for that. When car is cold runs on a map once heats up runs live off the various sensor if your coolant temp switch faulty won't be telling ecu car is hot so incorrect fuel management follows.
Oh and welcome to the forum from me in Scotland :welcome:

Hi Mint, yes the codes do seem to return every time. But not sure whether the bluetooth ODB device and software (Torque pro) are any good. They were about the cheapest setup I could get.

@RicardoUK , whereabouts in Notts are you? I'm unavailable for 3 weeks or I would've met you and read the codes with my reader. Maybe someone else could offer their services .................................... ;)

Tony.

ps. IF you don't get it sorted out before I'm back the offer stands.:)

Hello Ricardo and welcome. I had similar issues with my 2.0l, cured by replacing the inlet cam sensor with a genuine BMW part, also found a blanking pipe had split on the throttle body letting in unmetered air.
I have a code reader you can try. Where abouts are you in Notts, I am near Newark.
