Hi and welcome, the Zed lends itself very well to these kind of kits. Both Anthony Cherry's Bertini and the Cobra look great. :)

Hi from Canada!! After the Bertini I like the Ferrari kit the best! I see so many cobra cars over here that they are pretty much just another car and don't create much excitement with me. Can't go to a car show without there being at least one or two! JIM

Hi looks like it is going to be amazing... If you are removing the front wings and they are in good condition get in touch as I need both... Thanks
Will do, I live in the Redditch area. Will have lots of good parts for sale (see first post). The Z has always been garaged so all panels in good original condition.

My N/S door actuator failed on my Z3. I fitted a replacement from Euro Car Parts It cost £35 approx. but that was about 3 years ago. Easy enough job. If you have the fob or built into the key remote they have different issues.

Tony.
I'm intrigued Tony, care to expand on the different issues between a fob or a key operated remote locking system?

The early cars had a separate remote fob and a plain key, but the later cars had the remote built into the key. Member @Geoff Crispin has recently been trying to get his c/locking working, he may be able to give you some pointers. Also if you have a look through the articles and resources tabs at the top of the page you'll find some info there I'm sure.

Tony.

ps. I've tagged Geoff in this so he may pop up soon.

The remote pick up is in the rear view mirror but not on the early zeds.
If you have wires dropping into the top of the mirror its likely to be in there.

Hello Sir P
I have not yet been sucessfull in getting mine working, the first fob that I purchased was the wrong one and now that I have the right one my nephew who is trying to get my system working has not been down to Somerset lately.
I also have central locking problems as not all doors/boots lock/ unlock each time, . told it is caused by broken wires in boot loom by hinge but have not checked it out yet
There is a lot of technical info on this site re this and worth looking at.

Good luck

Geoff

Yes thanks for the pic, yes that is most likely where my problem is or some of it. Will get round to it some time, so many other jobs to do round the house/garden, daughters garden, I also have a TR4 which I am showing twice this year that takes up quite a lot of my time.
Not watching this thread from the beginning just being tagged I forgot to say a big welcome from Somerset, its a great club/site in every respect.

Help please

I have just attempted to fit an aftermarket remote control locking system fro United Auto Security (BMWRSZ2-RH)

The kit is very simple and connect to the middle plug of the ZKE behind the glove box. There are only 4 connections that I require and two of those are earth and power for the brain.

Now the white wire from the brain (according to the instructions) goes to pin 4 of the central ZKE plug, on mine this is pink, even though the instructions say yellow, then the black/white lock cable from the brain is supposed to connect to pin 17 of the pink plug.

Operated it for the first time and the doors everything locked and the doors are deadlocked (you can't open them using the inside handle) the locked LED with the kit flashing as it should.

But tried to unlock and although I can hear the relay operating in the brain nothing unlocks (first time I did it I locked myself in the car and had to be rescued by my wife!!!)

Have checked all outputs and they seem fine. So I think that pin 17 is the wrong one (lets not forget this is an American system) I have also tried pin 14 with no luck.

So my question is does anybody know which is the unlock pin inside the pink central plug to the ZKE ??

any help would be really appreciated.

On another note I am about to begin dismantling the bodywork for its new party frock. So I have bonnet, wings, sills, boot lid, front and back light clusters all for sale.

If you would like any please get in touch....find what you want, the cheapest you can get it, then knock another 25% off and you can have my bits for that price whatever it is.

Would still prefer to flog as a job lot if possible and collection preferred for the rest.

@Axelf I think you were interested in the wings maybe?....I am coming up to Durham in August so might be able to bring them up with me even....if you still want them.....have to see if we could arrange...your call.

Thanks all

This could be a solution for some of my scratched and chipped panels, have sent you a message via the Conversation feature.
