hi all,
I posted a few months about my Z3M.

Well today a bit of a development. With a Randy Forbes kit in the boot, it is now on its way to get the repair needed to the rear.

The start of a journey to get it the treatment it deserves. With 2022 being the 25th anniversary of the launch of the Z3 and the 50th anniversary of the M cars, I decided it would be a good time to do it.
I’ll add further updates of the progress as we go through.

Surgery on the rear but good progress being made. The Randy Forbes kit certainly a beneficial addition here.

As you can see, it has been repaired really badly before. The previous owner obviously didn’t know or care about decent standards.

Whatever you get done to the floor is going to be a vast improvement. Its a wonder it stayed on the road!!

I chap on the Z3 M Coupe Forum had a Randy Forbes kit installed by Redish Motor Sport and they had to modify the run of the exhaust system. I'll try and find a link to the thread.

If you have the double ear diff mount then yes the exhaust has to be modified. But sticking with standard single mount but reinforcing etc…

Yes you are correct, but didn't know what Randy Forbes repair kit you had. Good read anyway.

Back to the workshop again today to check on progress. The quality of the Randy Forbes kit is clear and instructions are great. The chap doing the work on it for me is really really good too. Not done one before but he’s and expert welder and highly recommended for anyone in the West Mids area.

More progress today. With previous poor repair, the decision made was to cut out and rebuild more than usual but confident it will be far better than before and much stronger than standard.
May even be finished by early next week.

Coming along now. Welding has started after all the cutting out and mending the mess left behind.
looking good for a week turnaround.
