I am a new member and am one of the few Z1 owners in the US, I joined in the hope of getting occasional technical help and to learn from an educated group of owners. My current task is to figure out whether to replace my 15 year old tires with new 14" ones or to upgrade to 15" or larger wheels and tires. Any thoughts?

:welcome:to the forum from West Cumbria, England. I'd be replacing the tyres as a matter of course due to the age, I think circa 10 years is about the recommended shelf life.

Hello welcome to the forum. I'd definitely change the tyres at the age they are. As for changing the wheels I suppose it depends whether or not you want to retain the standard factory look

Thanks for the goods wishes. I bought the car out of England about 3 years ago. Once it was 25 years old, we can import to the US without changing emissions or safety equipment to meet US spec. Would love to here from anyone with experience running larger diameter wheels on the Z1. Regardless of the path we take, the original wheels will stay with the car - but its hard to find decent 14" rubber!

You will struggle to find a decent selection of 14" tires, we do over here too. Personally I would find some 15" wheels which look as much like the original ones as possible and just leave the old ones as they are.

Tony.

Welcome to the forum from Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey. The car looks like it's in beautiful condition. You will be one of the rare members of this forum with a Z1. We're happy to have you with us. What part of the US do you live. There are several members of the forum on this side of the Pond but we're spread out compared to the UK. I just happened to google search 14" tires on the internet and many places came up as having them, such as Wall Mart. I'm sure Goodyear or Mavis carries them and perhaps you can get some sort of performance tire more suited for the car...................................Frankie
