By and large we have the same feelings towards your country Tyler. The Border force here and in the US are only doing a job. We want to se more of your country too hence the Route 66 trip.
Tony.
I'm not a fan of borders in general, but I guess they're a fact to be reckoned with. While you're in the American Southwest, it's possible you'll come across an immigration checkpoint anywhere within 100 miles of the border. They'll ask whether you're a US citizen. If you say no, they'll ask dumb questions. I don't think you're required to carry a passport, but that might be the fastest way to get through. I'm personally opposed to such things being anywhere in the interior of my country, so I won't answer the question, which can delay my travel for 15-20 minutes. It's worth it to me.
Have you been through Arizona before? A side trip to Sedona might be enjoyable, especially if you have a convertible. The red rock formations against the trees are quite a sight. I always like to recommend the author, Edward Abbey, to anyone visiting that region, especially if they're interested in wide open spaces and wilderness areas. Desert Solitaire is his best in my opinion.
