We've had our '97 1.9 zed for 3 or 4 years now. I wanted something to tinker with and keep my hand in at spannering. It has certainly kept me entertained on that front! I don't think it had seen much love from its previous owners.
Up until last Christmas it had been a rolling restoration with lots of the usual problems ticked off the list. Sailed through another MOT in December, then I decided to tackle the numerous bubbles in the paint around the rear wheels.
That's when it stopped rolling! Both sills and both front and rear side panels are off. The side panels should be recoverable with a bit of fabrication and welding. Not sure about the sills though as they were full of silt and very rotten, but will give them a go. The chassis behind the sills wasn't too bad although there were some nasty patches in the rear wheel arches. Has given me an excuse to expand my tool collection with a mig welder and compressor for grit blasting. Can't be bad!
Still starts well for trips up and down the drive or ramps. I'll get there eventually, hopefully before next spring!
