Hi, I'm the wrong side of 60 Englishman living in North West France running a boarding kennels and cattery with my wife and family. I have just purchased a 1997 Z3 2.8 that has been sitting in a garage for 3 years since the clutch went (or that's what he thinks it is and there is a new clutch in the boot!) I brought it home on a trailer yesterday and I'm starting to sort it out. I am lucky as we have a workshop with a 2 post ramp which makes life easier. I charged the battery last night and today she started with no problem but has a nasty squeal when the clutch is depressed and won't even try to go into gear and the ABS light is on. The first question I have is are the nuts holding the guibo joint special as it says I can re-use the bolts but to use new nuts.

Hi and welcome to the forum from the other side of the channel in Bognor Regis :welcome:

The M10 nuts are self locking ( nylock or similar ) and so the manual recommends replacing them.
I dont know whether they could be reused with threadlock to secure them, but I’m sure one of the more experienced people will give you advice on that.

I would reuse them without thinking about it.

Tony.

If you want a list of the Z3 torque settings taken from the Bentleys Service manual,
Send me a PM with an email address and I will send you a copy.

Hi and welcome from London, you are a lucky lad living in France and more importantly having a 2 post ramp.

Just tap the nyloc ring at the top of the nut to slightly compress it, it will cut a slightly different path in the nylon ring then.
