Hi everyone. I have owned a modest Z3 1.9 since buying it new in 1997. I say modest because it was a financial stretch for me back then. I was in my 20s.
I bought the most basic one. Standard, AC and cloth seats. I joined the Motor City chapter of the BMWCCA at the time.
I bought it as a second car and only used it on sunny days. To this day my car has never been driven in the rain.
We have both aged but the car has held up better than me, although I try my best to keep up.
During its lifetime the car has received a new clutch, one set of new tires and new windshield wiper inserts. The original ones were dried up. My father in law bought me the shift knob during a trip to Germany.
A few pics. I still have the VHS cassette somewhere that came with the car. It shows a guy travelling through the USA in the Roadster.
I look forward to spending time on this forum and perhaps learning to appreciate my car a bit more - as I did when it was new. It’s nice to have an actual ignition key and stick shift and that is a step in the right direction.
