Heated seat issues

Hang in there Andy @ spurs fan in a coupe i will be installing heated seats at some point and one more resource is always welcomed. If all else fails maybe get Harry in to help! These kids today are astonishing with what they can figure out. JIM
 
I've just retro fitted heated seats into my pre facelift, all the wiring was already in the loom. I also got two used switches from eBay, they connect to two yellow plugs in the centre console, mine were quite well hidden. It was then just a matter of installing the orange K9 relay (or pale green on newer cars) and connecting the new heat pads to the black connectors under the seats.
The seat connectors have 4 wires each seat, 2 brown (0V) and the other two are the switched 12V
The yellow switch connectors have 6 wires for each seat, again brown is 0V.

Looks similar to what @Sean d fitted in his seats can get them cheaper direct frim Vhina plenty of sellers on U.K. eBay.

Yep plenty to choose from on eBay, think I paid about £37 for a kit although I didn't use the extra bits.
Hardest part for me was getting the leather off the seats, backs are easy but the ar*e part wasn't. My car had been upgraded to leather by an after market company many years ago (before my ownership) and had all been glued in place, not sure if that's the case with the original leather seats, good luck.

The original leather is very easily removed.
 
One thing I would suggest you consider, the heat pads come with double sided tape to secure them in position, this didn't seem to work particularly well with my seats so I secured them with a splash of glue but only in the centre. My reasoning behind this was that they need to able to flex and move with the seat but you obviously don't want them coming completely adrift. Might not be needed at all but it gives me peace of mind.

Thanks for that tip, I wish I had been thinking about this a couple of months ago when I had the seatcovers changed over, could have had everything installed at the time!! I hope I also have the loom in place already, will make things so much better! JIM
 
Yes the loom should contain all the necessary wiring, like you Jim I wish I'd done it years ago, makes a huge difference in the winter. If you've got the normal non sports seats I'd suggest trying the seat lift modification too. I did this at the same time and it makes the seats far more supportive.

You can get the bits anywhere, all M8 threads and the spacers are approximately 25mm.

Sounds good @t-tony whichever visit cuz I can't do anything till spring now the snow's falling and temps are dropping quickly. Whichever suits I'd hate to cut into Shirl's shopping time though!! JIM
