So a small thing but it’s been bugging me - underneath the shiny sidelight/headlight pull knob there is a symbol to indicate what the knob is for. Should it be illuminated with the rest of the instruments backlighting? Mine isn’t.

Yes, it should be lit when the ignition is on. Well, mine is ;)

I'm sure my Z3 used to do Tony.

Tony.

I'd complain to the previous owner @Tony Francis ! If you are taking it apart you should consider doing the light rheostat as a precaution

Just pinched a photo from Lee's latest build thread...

Thanks for that link Ant, that does indeed look very worthwhile as I have noticed some flickering of the backlighting when adjusting.

The bulb pushes into a little plastic tube at the bottom of the switch you will have to take the steering column lower dash section off to get access to it.
Stephen.

Thanks Stephen, I was wondering how to access it! Any idea what bulb I need for replacement?

This is also news to me, had no idea it was meant to light up. Looks like I'll also be doing a replacement.

Now I have to run out and check mine... but: does it light when the ignition is on? I suppose not much point in having it illuminate only when the dash lights come on... :)
