Headlight bulb upgrade recommendations ???

Hi
I want to replace my current bulbs with a new set of halogens, a simple swap for up to date bulbs for improved lighting . I don't want to convert the original lights to killer death star units . Any recommendations , comments on bulb life ? This might be important as my low beams are permanently ON , daylight running lights are mandatory in Canada

I used Osram Nightbreaker bulbs in my Z3 and now in my Z4. You can fit DRL lights so you don’t have to run headlights on permanently. I fitted them on both my Zeds.

The NA Z s are wired so that the low beams are the DLRs . I'm not sure if there are two low beam circuits , one for DLR, which also powers the rear lights ; and a separate low beam feed working from the head lamp switch .. I don't want to do knife and fork surgery on the BMW loom

I have used PIAA Xtreme White Plus bulbs in a number of my cars and they are the best legal bulbs you can buy.
Not cheap mind and watch out for fakes on ebay….
