The exterior of the Z3 was designed by Joji Nagashima, being completed in mid-1992 at 39 months before production and the design was frozen in 1993. Design patents were filed on April 2, 1994 in Germany and on September 27, 1994 in the US. The Z3 was introduced via video press release by BMW North America on June 12, 1995.

Got to be one of the best designs for a sports soft top ever. Takes much from the best sixties cars like the AC Ace, Big Healey etc, but nothing wrong with that.

Great design  BUT as we know they got some things very wrong too in the mechanical design

Mine must have inherited a kamikaze trait when it blew up in Belgium a couple of years ago =)) Ended up having a heart transplant and I needed a wallet transplant =))

Just agreeing @Nodzed, didn't mean it to sound too pedantic! Love the Z3 body, pity I can't just afford to have one to look at. Let's not mention the pointless spare wheel or the 'so called' power roof.
