Have you got a phobia

Mine is a real problem for me, don't think there's an official name for it.

I can't be near to other people when they are eating, especially if they talk when they're eating, I have to leave to room.

For my train journeys I have my ipod turned up loud and I close my eyes.

If someone calls me on the phone and they are eating I have to tell them to call back when they've finished lunch.

It sounds silly, but I really do have to leave the room.

Yes their is a name for it :p
My daughter went to the doctors about it because she can't stand the noise :(
It drives her mad :)

The unbeatable noise which people make when eating the phobia is called Misophonia @Tfp :p

I already talked about my fear of empty swimming pools with a big drop at the deep end in the thread this thread was born from.

And I explained I was most surprised to find it's quite common. But it has no name.

So I've made one up from Latin.

aquanihillacusphobia.

It's from the words water, nothing and water hole. I have no idea if it makes any sense. But it sounds quite good aqua-nee-hill-accus phobia :)

While we're on about noise ....... :p
I can't stand any noise that isn't meant to be their :)
Tapping of fingers on the table .....
Whistling........
Humming to yourself
Etc etc :)

Its called 'mind over matter' Tony.
OK, if you do not think you will ever get out, then you have got a problem.

Totally agree, but someone who has it won't .They get paranoid about, it's an illogical fear, that I don't understand and you don't either, but to them it's very real and scary.

Tony.

This photo really freaks me. But wanted to find something to try and show how freaky they can be.

I just find this absolutely disturbing :(

I don't mean to be rude to other members but I just do not understand phobias, ADHD, Autism etc..??
Maybe because I am a simple soul?

ADHD and Autism isn't a phobia though Mike, it's a disability. I know a small amount about it as I know several people who have children who are autistic.

Explanation from the National Autistic Society.
"Autism is a lifelong developmental disability that affects how people perceive the world and interact with others.

Autistic people see, hear and feel the world differently to other people. If you are autistic, you are autistic for life; autism is not an illness or disease and cannot be 'cured'. Often people feel being autistic is a fundamental aspect of their identity.

Autism is a spectrum condition. All autistic people share certain difficulties, but being autistic will affect them in different ways. Some autistic people also have learning disabilities, mental health issues or other conditions, meaning people need different levels of support. All people on the autism spectrum learn and develop. With the right sort of support, all can be helped to live a more fulfilling life of their own choosing.

This is Val not Pete. I've got a phobia well if you can call it that. I hate seeing mis-spelt words and the wrong word used. E.g.. their instead of there and stationery instead of stationary, and vice versa.

Indeed and it takes a loooong time just to find the key to unlock that child's mind and understand and pre-empt the trigger points so you can try and overt the issue before it becomes one, success is not 100% though. Hard work as a parent on a whole different level :(

I’m now off to work :p
Wish I could stay home and talk to you lot :)
Catch you all tomorrow xx ;)

Rule 1.4 is a killer then =)). Not double spacing after a full stop and single spacing after a comma kills me :banghead:
