The chap I got my hard top off used it without a fixing kit??!! If I had know I would have taken my Zed to collect it rather than a tipper lol.

He screwed it in front with these

Then he said for the rear he tied something round the existing roof arms and to the hardtop connections??

For the rear demister he used a cable and connection to the cig lighter socket, yiu can see the cable below

Anyone heard a roof being used this way?

And whatever you do dont open the windows whilst moving

There was a guy on a forum some time ago that was going to have some brackets made and was threatening to make a few sets and sell them to others, not sure he got to it though. The point is, perhaps you and some friends can undertake this sort of journey.

I bought a Weissman hardtop from a guy in Plymouth a year or so ago. He had already sold the fitting kit to someone else. I collected it from his house in Plymouth with my Zed. I fastened the front bolts as normal and used a 1" ratchet strap for each of the rear fittings to the base of my seats. It didn't budge a mm on the 55 mile drive home

When my wife had her 2.8 we drove to Iron Bridge from Bristol to purchase a hardtop and fitting kit ,when the guy bought the fitting kit out to put on the roof for the return journey it was a pair of the pig ugly alloy brackets that were floating around several years ago!
Having driven that far and roofs not being the crazy price they sell for now we went ahead with the deal and I bought a genuine set from Germany for a couple of hundred pounds back then, they were horrible and looked like something you would have knocked up in a school metalwork lesson but they did work!
