It's got worse with these cold dark mornings mate, just want to hibernate.
This is the first winter in years that I haven't had to work on a new build site luckily, they're grim in winter.

Our Gaz was telling us on Boxing day mate. He's been working out your way on site with another joiner, my mate Graham who you met here before. He said dragging their tools across the site from the van took 20 minutes each end of the day. Been an eye opener for him I think.

I remember my first time on a site, daunting wasn't the word. Minimal h+s then, crawling round on joists with muddy boots and all your gear and working with people below, no safety netting etc. Sometimes they weren't even roofed in, no windows fitted and the icy wind howling through.
Now they have to at least put road stone down so you access the houses cleaner and safer and having to wear a high viz and hard had isn't such a bad thing t.b.h. Seen some scary things and near misses over the years .

Back when I was 17 / 18 years old, worked in the scaffolding, sometimes up at 107 Mtrs.
Was more worried about freezing to death in the winter than falling off.
Money was bloody good though .... :)

No, just bloody stupid and going for the money, at that age you think you are invincible, when I think back about it now, it makes my toes curl.

hard had isn't such a bad thing t.b.h.
I had just put mine back on after scratching my head or something, a lump of pipe lagging came down from Christ knows what height and knocked me flat on my ass.

Gary said the "roads" were still just mud where they were working and even inside a glazed house it was colder than outside because of the thermal insulation keeping what bit of heat from the sun, out.

Tony.

ps. Considering he had his biggest workload cancel at the end of November and was worrying about earning he has been very busy with Graham and Graham is helping Gaz fit a kitchen next week, so it's working out quite well and he isn't worrying about money now at least.;)

Where about is Gary working near me mate, there are new sites springing up all round here.
That's the killer, being colder in the houses than it is outside......until we get the heating second fixed and running anyway..
Really pleased he's got plenty of work ,it'll be a big help to him having Graham on side  .

Not too sure Steve, just it's somewhere near Notts. A contact of Grahams, a couple of brothers. I will ask him. One thing less to worry over mate and that's a big relief for me and Shirl. I will pm you some more info in a little while if your about for a while?

Yep it's always a worry when you're self employed, as you'll know mate. Having a supply of decent regular work isn't always a given.
I'll be on for half hour or so Tony.

Nicely done sir. It's always good to see a neat solution to a problem that does not involve throwing heaps of money at it.
