Hard work.

Never had an success with Roundup....but I found an industrial type weed killer on ebay, and sprayed over the back fence as I back on to a railway line and get all the brambles, ivy etc trying to creep through into the garden.
Did it six months ago, and checked it last week and still have a six foot dead zone from my fence. :):)
that wasn't weedkiller, it was Novichok

Malc please send me a link to that weed killer mate. The problem we have with going to our place in Florida is that the drive usually needs mowing when we get home. Round up has been next to useless fro years now. You can't the full strength version any more. My Dad used to be able to "acquire" some which the LDWB used in their pumping station compounds but alas not any longer. I really could do to use something like that along the fence next to the Lake field.

weeds where the worst part mate, the machine I had would destroy them but the roots would soon deveope new growth, On a big job I would go around the week before and spray the drive with industrial strength Roundup, and then go back a month after the drive was cleaned and re-treat it, the latter was at an extra cost

Yes, you do need a systemic weed killer, and in our case something to either kill or discourage those bloody ants. The little buggers must be working 24 hours to shift the amount of sand that they do.:mad::mad:

I take a picture of it and also check to see if I can find the original invoice on my main computer and forward to you tomorrow morning.

Cheers mate, that would be appreciated.

I think I've earned my beer tonight !

Tony.

I think you have earned more than one .....

Just hope that any cars that arrive, don’t have oil leaks, on your nice clean paving

looking better by the minute. Didn't want to come back and drive my nice clean coupe on your dirty drive again so thanks, much appreciated.:bag:...................................lol

Me too Malc, must make sure @Grumps has had aiming training before letting him loose out there with a drain tray ;). One benefit of having our Gary's old veedub out there for 2 years is that there was little to no weed growth underneath it.

Tony.

We did our block paving this afternoon. It is only one row all round the edge of the tarmac:):) but we did shift 1.7t of slate chipping with our next door neighbour reminded me of doing coal face training. got the same amount to move later on.

I think I need a new brush.

You can't get owt to last . . . . . . . . ;)

Tony.

I’ve heard salt water solution sorts out the weeds

We've tried that Dino and it does kill the foliage quite quickly but doesn't kill the root system. Shirl found a write up for using white vinegar with a small amount of washing up liquid (which is supposed to make the mixture cling to the plant/weed).
Apparently Roundup is being withdrawn from sale due to links to some types of cancer. I suspect the same thing will eventually happen to the product @Mazza recommended to me too.

Years ago Tony a pensioner showed me what to do with weeds along my path lawn edge, he mixed up a couple of pints of old used engine oil with white spirits and painted in the groove between the two. Never got any weed growth there for 3+ yrs. I used it about three times over a good dozen yrs. Never affected the lawn and to this day nothing grows there between the two. Think it’s poisoned the ground there and the grass grows over it but not in it so the lawn edger is all that’s needed. Of cause this is totally irrelevant to you as you wouldn’t pant old engine oil on your drive, would you???????:stop:

Please don’t post back the obvious.=))

The second word would likely be "off" mate, as you surmised.;)=)) When I worked from home years ago I had a ready outlet for waste engine oil. A guy in the next village used to collect it and mix it with Creosote 50/50 and use it to paint his wooden garden fence. I bet it bloody stunk in the hot weather.:(
