So, this afternoon we've put the hard top on, since next week is apparently going to be chilly. A bit reluctantly, but then again it's quick to put on and remove so here goes...

Went for a test drive on my usual back roads, and it *does* creak a bit, so I might have to readjust it. Mind you my 2013 X3 also creak in cold weather so I'm not terrified of the noise :)

However one thing that I immediately noticed was that with the 18" MV1's that usually tramline quite a bit, well, it was *at least* 50% better. Almost comfy! Not as good as when I use the 17" 18's but, wow, quite a difference!

Anyway, I'll take some pics tomorrow with the car with hard top on, it looks pretty mean, I have to say ;-)

I periodically loosen the hardtop front and back and rub some Gummie Pfledge on the rubbers of the hardtop using two / three fingers from the outside - front screws completely loosen - lifting the top gently and ensuring fingers don’t get nipped - works a treat.

You could try doing this at the sides and back first - loosen the front screws enough to release the back levers.

Then secure hardtop and enjoy your new drive!

I was driving back from Scotland on some country roads and the hard top started rattling quite alot. The front screws were winding their way out! So I'll be ordering some new ones from bmw I think they are £10.
Also check the pins that stick down at the back are tightened up fully as they can come loose too.
