A hardtop has come up local to me but there is no fitting kit. Looking at the prices on eBay they seem quite extortionate for what they are.

Is there nobody making these at a reasonable price that do the job?

The problem is rarity and that BMW no longer make them. People sell their hard top separately from the car and leave the kit on not realising they go together - worth asking the seller if he still has his!

I've come across this Dutch site

Price is about £245, not OEM but money back guarantee if your not happy.

So I'm guessing
I'd need the extra parts mentioned
Heating switch
Torx bolt (is it 2 needed?)
Adapt engaging ping (what is this??)

What's your thoughts on this chaps

No, don't bother, even though I had the heated rear window, I never used it.
The heated wing mirrors were enough for me.
Also my wind deflector was on the car all the time as I found it cut out head light glare from SUV's etc.
Also you are going to have to strip some of your interior to wire it up.

Ok thanks.
So is everything in the picture all that is needed to get the top to fit properly? Or do I need torx bolts for the front?

As @GazHyde has suggested check with the seller to see if the OEM fitting kit has been left on the car - otherwise the Dutch solution would be the alternative.

No he's sold the car, so it's just the HT Available.
Now I'm trying to find black Zeds with a silver hardtop. Any photoshoppers about?

I vaguely remember seeing a pic of a black car with silver top, better the other way around in my opinion, some combinations seem to work well.

What does it do tho?
Part of the wiring for the heated rear window on a BMW hardtop. (I had a Weissman hardtop)
Honestly, don't bother with it, the Z cabin is so small, just direct you middle dash heater vents to the rear of the car.

You could get the torx bolts for the windscreen rail from BMW I think. Give them a ring.

Tony.

Created with my phone just to get an idea =))

I think it will look ok.
I'm due to get the wheels refurb' so if I get them in in the same colour as the roof I don't think it will look too bad.

Not that this has any thing to do with a BMW hardtop but this is/was my Weissman fitting kit.
As you can see at the top of the photo, these are the connectors for the heated rear window.
I could not be assed to strip my interior so just cut the wires leaving enough to be able to reconnect.
