Thanks everyone!
It was a biggie!..... I can't believe It's now 3 score years and 10 since I popped out to see what the world outside was like!
The week of my birthday (7th) looked as if it was going to be a quiet one, with just school reading on the 6th on the planner!
On the morning I asked Mrs. Bonzo if she had anything planned for my birthday, but she said all of my chums she had spoken to were busy on that day, but that she would take me out to breakfast. I went down to make some tea and the doorbell rang. Muttering, "Who's calling this early", I opened the door, and complete surprise there was our son David, who had driven through the night from Sussex to stay for a few days. Well, that cheered me up quite a bit.
So off we went to a local Hotel for breakfast, and as we walked in, another surprise...... I found 8 of our friends waiting to have breakfast with us. This lasted for some time, with lots of laughter and banter.
The afternoon was spent chatting to our son, followed by a power nap to sleep off all those croissants!
Mrs Bonzo then said she was taking us out for supper, but wouldn't divulge the name of the Restaurant. My son said he had no idea where we were going!... We drove into Aylsham, parked up and then walked in to the town centre. She led me in to a Bistro/Cafe...............and inside were 28 of our friends with '70' balloons, decorations, party poppers etc and raised glasses, singing 'Happy Birthday' as I walked in.

To use a well worn phrase,
'I was Gobsmacked'. We all had a lovely supper, and the whole place buzzed with conversation and laughter. all topped off at the end with 2 large cakes, a coffee and walnut one and a chocolate one, in the shapes of a 7 and 0. Some of the folks wobbled a bit as they made their ways home!!!
It was all arranged by my lovely Mrs Bonzo. How she, and all our friends kept it a secret, I'll never know..... I played Petanque with some of them, table tennis with some of them, went Go Karting with some of them, even had breakfast with some of them that morning, but still had no inkling of what was to come.
I WAS A VERY HAPPY BUNNY!
To complete a super week, my son took me and a chum Go Karting the day after my birthday, and the following day he took me and another chum Clay Pigeon Shooting. We saw our Daughter and our 3 grandchildren for swimming and lunch the day after that!
A super, unforgettable week. I am a very, very lucky guy!
Bonzo.
