When I tried to adjust mine it was very difficult to see which way to either see or adjust the right way. So remove the torq bolt, the caliper bolts and pull the disc off. Put something to support the caliper. You can now see the adjuster and which way it should turn. It was very easy doing this way.

just a little tip when you find the correct point to move the adjuster scribe a line on the edge of the disk where the dust backing plate thing ends then when you turn the disk to test it you can put it back exactly in the right place, also make sure you loosen off the cable at the handbrake end first else the car will slightly roll back or forward every time you apply the handbrake :)

you would not believe the amount of times I have pulled off with my handbrake still on or rolled back on a hill because have not put the handbrake on....... I have a GTC as my daily drive and that had a electric handbrake that does it all for you, its nice but I do forget now when I change cars ;)

Couldn't find the adjuster so decided to take the callipers off about a week ago and then the discs, the discs seemed to be stuck on and wouldn't budge despite being hit with a mallet.

I didn't want to warp the discs as I didn't have a spare set and needed the car the following day so I put everything back together.

Today I went to the car, put my bag in and closed the passenger door, at this point I heard my rattle coming from the front end of the car.

This is what it sounds like

Sorry that is a dirty zed, been well over a month since the last wash as I've been busy sorting the interior out.

Sounds like the back plate the shoes may have become unattached from it this may also explain why you struggle to get the disc off.
They sit on with spring clips some times the back plate rusts other times the little caps pop off.
You going to have to strip it down to find out.

Ant, the noise is actually coming from the front of the car mate, in the video I'm kicking the front tyres to replicate the noise.

Originally I thought that it was coming from the rear and that's why I was trying to get the disc off but couldn't get it off so I put everything back together.

This morning when I closed my passenger door I heard the noise coming from the front so went and gave a gentle kick to the front tyre and heard the noise.

It's hard to hear where it's coming from when you're sat on the other side.

Could it be broken coil springs? Anti rattle clip is in place so don't think it's that.

Still sounds like back plate to me have you picked up a stone.
A coil spring snapped would be visible ie height difference something is loose and that noise just says back plate to me mate .

Sounds as though the backplate has become unattached usually they shear off around the bolt holes. Fit quite a few at work Faheem. You can repair them by having a flat washer welded over the hole.

Cheers guys. @t-tony Wouldn't it be more cost effective to fit a new one?

Depends on the cost and condition of the old one mate. Rear ones will always need replacing at some point but they're a bi*** of a job!

I think my rear ones were done when my handbrake cable, shoes etc were replaced last year.

With the front ones I've read that the bearings need to come out for replacement which seems like a PITA!

I also saw someone mentioning the washer trick that you suggested earlier.

Some people have completely removed it, that's not something I'd like to do as it was put there originally for a reason...

Im a little confused on how it's all held in place and will have a closer look this weekend.

Once you have the disc off you can get to the three bolts. Another use for an impact driver.

Tony.

ps. And don't forget the axle stands !!!!;)
